At Coastal Roots' summer film festival we premiered our documentary, sharing the untold stories of America's female farmers with these farm and food loving locals. The turnout was a testament to the film's impact—nearly 150 people immersed themselves in the opening panel of local women farmers and the film narrative, cheering for the women throughout. It was clear: the film resonated deeply, sparking conversations and lighting a fire in the hearts of those present.
Seattle Documentary Association (SeaDoc) hosts moderated Work-in-Progress documentary screenings to foster a space for critical feedback and constructive dialogue. Screenings are open to the public with a primary audience of fellow documentary filmmakers.
SeaDoc's first Work-in-Progress screening of 2024 features Women's Work: The Untold Story of America's Female Farmers directed by Audra Mulkern and Kara Rowe. The screening will take place at in-person at The Beacon Cinema in Seattle.

In this 2020 TEDxSeattle talk, Audra Mulkern shares her journey to put female farmers back in the picture. She wants to help them mow down the “grass ceiling” and drive the agricultural industry forward.
Audra explains how female farmers have fed the nation in times of crisis – despite having harder times accessing loans and credit. Foregoing pie charts and graphs for photographs and personal stories, her talk demonstrates why the “grass ceiling” should be a concern for all of us.
